Building for Excellence

2012 is an exciting year for MIS – marking the beginning of two significant building projects:

  • A new and inspirational building offering a contemporary learning environment
  • A new, 8 lane, international standard track and soccer field

Building on Strong Foundations

These new facilities will bring to life a major part of our Strategic Plan and will help ensure the continued success of Munich International School in all areas of school life.

At MIS, we believe that ‘Excellence in education’ can only be achieved by offering every student the opportunity to excel not only in the classroom, but also wherever their broader talents lie - be that in sport, the arts or one of the many other activities or skills which they can explore at MIS.

For nearly half a century we have been preparing our students both academically and personally to become global citizens, who will rise to the challenges of tomorrow’s world. This has placed MIS at the forefront of international education.

The new building and track and soccer field will strengthen our position as an innovative centre of excellence and help guarantee our future as one of the best appointed International Schools in Europe.

The facilities our students currently enjoy have been made possible thanks to donations from parents and others in our community. Now is the time to start realizing the next phase of the MIS development plan to cement our position as a contemporary leading international school, which provides the best possible learning environment for our students.

Who will benefit?

All our students and the wider MIS community, current and future, will benefit from the best learning environment and sports facilities we can provide.

When will the new facilities be ready to use?

Construction is planned to commence during the Summer of 2012, with the completion of the building in the Summer of 2014. The track and soccer field will be ready for use in mid 2013.

What is the total cost?

The overall cost will be €13 million.  We are looking to raise €5 million of this total amount through donations to our fundraising campaign over the next 3 years.

With your help, we can ensure that MIS remains at the forefront of international education and that we achieve our mission: ‘Excellence in Education for globally-minded students.’

Please make a donation today! In doing so, you will be helping to provide the best possible educational facilities for the global citizens of tomorrow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Why donate?

A

Our Mission is ‘Excellence in education for globally-minded students.’ To achieve this, and to ensure that the learning for our children continues to be at the leading edge of educational thinking, MIS must continually invest.

For almost half a century MIS has been a major educational player both in the state of Bavaria and internationally.

Your donation will help us to ensure that our facilities and learning environments continue to be modern and fit for purpose.

Q

Why doesn’t the School raise tuition fees to cover the building projects instead of asking for donations?

A

This investment in the future of the school is crucial and, whilst we will continue to fund much of our development from our own resources, financing such capital projects cannot be achieved through increasing the fees. Tuition fees cover tuition only and together with the grant from the Bavarian Government ensure that we cover the day to day operational costs of the School.
In this, the 21st century, we must make huge investments to build the foundations for the future. Such investments require capital sums which are higher that we feel comfortable passing onto our current families in tuition and fees. Tuition is intended to cover just that, and our fees do pay for the teaching and learning costs.

Q

How much should I give?

A

All donations and gifts are gratefully received. There is no upper or lower limit. Each contribution, no matter how small, helps us to ensure that our goals of the new building and track and field are achieved on time. Many small gifts add up and are equally important.

How much is donated is not as important as whether you donate! We are looking to maximize the participation rates which in turn reflect the level of support for the School and its plans.

Q

Can my donation remain anonymous?

A

All donations can remain anonymous. We would ask that you request anonymity when you make your donation. We would like to list names of donors by way of recognition in our annual fundraising report. This list will not include individual amounts donated, just the totals.

Q

Can I influence how my donation will be used?

A

We have separate accounts for donations towards the building and donations towards the track. We also have a ‘gift list’ which itemizes specific areas of the campaigns and enables donors to ‘purchase’ a particular xxxxx.

If you have a specific requirement, please contact our development office to discuss your idea with the School.

Q

Is my donation tax deductible?

A

Yes, if you are a German tax payer and your donation is in Euros, it is tax deductible.

Q

Does my donation increase my chances of admission to MIS?

A

No, every donation made is gratefully received, but is not in any way related to the admissions process or department.
Our admissions policy can be found on our website.
