ISST

The International Schools Sports Tournament is a large organization that sets rules and standards by which our Senior School teams (and some Middle Schoolers) play. The high point of every season is the ISST tournament in each sport, which are generally open to Varsity teams only. The three-day tournaments are hosted by member schools on a rotating basis. Its membership includes schools across Europe and beyond (Munich, London, Paris, Brussels, Zurich, Frankfurt, Vienna, Geneva, Athens, Cairo). Local League MIS enters teams in some German sports leagues, including the BFV (Soccer) and BBV (Basketball). To play on a league team, each player must have a Spielerpass (player’s pass) specific to that league. Teams are usually within a 45-minute driving radius of MIS.

SCIS
The Sports Conference of International Schools is a smaller sports organization similar to the ISST. It organizes tournaments for Middle School, JV, and Varsity teams in a variety of sports. The two-day tournaments are hosted by member schools on a rotating basis. Its membership includes schools in Central and Eastern Europe (Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Zurich, Frankfurt, Warsaw).

Sportverein

“Sport Club,” founded to support the Athletic Department and MIS teams by raising funds, organizing volunteers, staffing the Imbiss (snack bar), and providing the opportunity for league play in some sports. Any student wishing to participate in any sport offered by the Athletic Department must become a Sportverein member.

Varsity and Junior Varsity (JV)
The strongest Senior School team is called the Varsity team (typically made up of 10th-12th graders). The second strongest SrS team is called the Junior Varsity or JV. The JV team develops younger Senior School players (and occasionally 8th-graders) and is typically made up of 9th and
10th grade students.
