Learning

At MIS we organise our students’ learning around the three sections of the school: Junior School, Middle School and Senior School. These three learning environments provide an evolving physical and pedagogical context best suited to the developing learning needs of our students.

Our curriculum is built within, but not limited to, the frameworks of the three IBO programmes: PYP, MYP and DP. We intentionally design and deliver curriculum to bring forward essential learnings and experiences for all our students.

We also believe our students’ learning experiences must reflect the world in which they live: we embed rich technologies within all our learning environments. In grades 7 to 12, all students have access to a laptop computer.

We also provide significant learning opportunities for our staff through our emphasis on professional learning. We support the staff in attending workshops and conferences off site as well as providing numerous opportunities for teacher facilitated learning on campus.

MIS Faculty

The MIS faculty is fully committed to serving the needs of students and parents in our community. All teaching staff have professional teaching credentials in addition to University degrees and advanced degrees in several instances. One of the most frequently heard comments about MIS staff is that they are both “personable and professional”. MIS invests significantly in the professional development of staff which is one of the reasons many people choose MIS as a place for career development.

At MIS you will find the faculty and staff enthusiastic about their work and very supportive of the school’s mission. There are 16 nationalities represented on staff. The average length of stay of a MIS teacher is 8 years which underscores the fact that there is an excellent balance of early career and experienced professionals on hand to serve you.
