We especially need imagination in science. It is not all mathematics, nor all logic, but it is somewhat beauty and poetry.

Science is viewed by the Primary Years Programme (PYP) as the exploration of behaviour and the interrelationships among the natural, physical and material worlds using the process of scientific inquiry. The science process, by encouraging hands-on experience and inquiry learning, enables students to make informed and responsible decisions, not only in science but also in other areas of life.
In the Junior School, within each grade, concepts are planned and documented to ensure adequate coverage of the strands within science:
-
Life sciences - issues related to themselves and their environment
-
Earth and space – the study of planet Earth and its relationship to the universe
-
Forces and energy - properties and uses of energy sources
-
Materials and matter - properties of solids, liquids and gases
Our goal is to provide every child with background in all areas of science so that they can confidently engage in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) with a solid conceptual and skill foundation.
