Junior School Library

The library in Junior School serves students from EC through Grade 5 as well as their parents and all MIS staff. The library houses over 20,000 items including fiction and non-fiction books, reference books, early readers, picture books, and audio books.

We fully support the PYP with a wide range of English and German language materials in many subject areas, and the Language A section currently includes 19 additional languages.

Students come to the library weekly at a scheduled time with their homeroom teachers. Students may also drop by mornings until 09:15, or they may visit at the end of the school day with a parent. Parents are also encouraged to check out materials for their children. We encourage you to come by the library and have a look at the wonderful selection offered.

  • Students whose mother tongue is not English may check out one book beyond the borrowing limit, in their native language.

  • We ask that students in EC through Grade 2 always return their books in their library bag
  • Please keep your books safe and clean!

Can I donate books to the library?

Yes. Please come to the library and ask to speak to the librarian before bringing in the books. We are looking for books in 'good' condition and preferably hardcover. The librarian will select the books based on condition and value to the collection. Donations may be in any language supported by the library.

Will I be fined for returning a late book?

No. There are no fines. Please return your books on time as there may be others waiting for the books.

Can I have the book longer than the normal 2 week checkout period?

Yes. If there is no one on the waiting list for the book, then you may have it for another 2 weeks.

What do I do when I have lost a book?

If you suspect you have lost a library book please contact the library. When the book can not be found then we ask that you pay the replacement cost of the book or you can buy a replacement copy of the book. The library will provide you with the details of the book if you choose to buy a new copy.
