Introduction to Climbing ~ Limited to 6 Participants

Bouldering is a type of free climbing, which means you don’t use ropes, just your old hands and feet. Bouldering tends to be limited to short, low climbs to prevent injury in case of a fall. To keep safe, thick squares of foam that cushion the ground in case of a fall will be used. A spotter (Mr. Columberg) will stand at the base of the boulder, watching the children climbing and giving directions.

Cool Bouldering Facts:

  • Bouldering is considered the most disciplined of climbing techniques because your only equipment is your body and your brain.
  • Because you often have to support your weight with your arms and legs, bouldering can build both upper and lower body strength.

If you haven’t tried bouldering yet, you’ll be blown away! Bouldering is unlike any other sport out there, it is fun from the very first session and it just keeps getting better! You don’t need any experience to have a great time. Although bouldering is an individual sport, it’s very much a group activity. And, unlike some organized team sports, everybody participates, so it’s fun for everyone!

Only students that have never participated can apply.
