When asked to name their greatest fears, many people list public speaking before death! This will not be true after becoming a member of the MIS Speech and Debate team. This after school activity is open to all Senior School students. We meet once a week to learn about and rehearse the following categories: Debate, Oral Interpretation of Literature, Impromptu Speaking, Original Oratory, and Duet Acting. A team consisting of 10 to 12 students qualifies for the tournaments in fall and spring taking place at a participating NESDA (Northern European Speech and Debate Association) school. This autumn the tournament will take place in Brussels on December 8-10, 2011; the spring tournament in Neuchatel Switzerland on March 23-25, 2012.
