Join us for 'Frühlings West' on 25 May, 2013
Spring is in the air and at MIS that means one thing. Frühlingsfest. Or, this year, Frühlings West...
The PTO have been working hard behind the scenes for months now, putting together a fantastic day for everyone. It has, as you will have gathered, a western theme - all the usual favourites will be on campus as well as a 'Bucking Bronco!'
By clicking HERE you will find out all you need to know about the day. Doors open at 11.00 hrs and events will finish at 15.00hrs. The alumni welcome room will be situated in Junior School, off the Junior School Auditorium. Looking forward to seeing you there!

MIS Alumni Reunion - Tokyo, Japan, March 2013
With huge thanks to organiser Ryutaro Hiratsuka, who graduated from MIS in 2008, a very successful MIS Alumni Reunion took place in Tokyo in March.
16 Alumni – ranging from Classes for 1991 through to 2012 – gathered together to exchange memories and stories over dinner at ‘The Rose and Crown’, a Victorian style restaurant in central Tokyo. One couple even travelled several hundred kilometres to attend the event!
There was no shortage of discussion topics – from teachers & principals, classes, after school activities and school trips to name but a few subjects of general interest. Indeed, the party continued well into the night…….
Ryutaro said:
“I personally value the time I spent at MIS. A young life in a foreign country, which comes with both sweat and bitter experiences, became an important element of myself. Though, it only revealed as an obvious appreciation once I came back to my motherland, Japan. At the reunion, this was more less the feeling everyone was able to share and connect each other. We all agreed without a doubt that MIS was a great school which has given education in every way.”
The event was much appreciated by those who attended and this may now become a regular event in the MIS Japan calendar!

Our Head of School, Simon Taylor, invites you to join him for an MIS Alumni Reception - come along and meet fellow MIS alumni and find out more about MIS today.
Bangkok - Friday 11 January 2013 from 18.00hrs to 19.30hrs
London - Tuesday 22 January 2013 from 18.00hrs to 19.30hrs
The reunions will be an informal get together as part of our roll out plan to develop our Alumni organisation across the world. We hope as many of you as possible in those locations will be able to join these events.
MIS Alumni Ski Weekend - 9 & 10 March 2013
It has been proposed that we recreate the ski weekend at Seefeld in March! A weekend of fun and ski, with the Alumni race to close the weekend. Class of '92 Reunion
Argentina, Trinidad & Tobago, California - just some of the corners of the world from which members of the Class of '92 travelled to join their 20 year reunion on campus yesterday. It was a pleasure to welcome them all to MIS. A tour of the School and grounds revealed a number of changes since graduation and on the way our former students met some of their old teachers and staff - Dan Glover, Liz Newman, David Pritchard, Anna Wietrzychowska and Mandana Koch who also joined us for lunch. The visit finished with a Bavarian style lunch and a group photograph.
Special thanks to Corinna Meyr, Class of '92, who initiated the idea and coordinated the event. And a huge thank you to everyone who made the day so special, we wish you a good stay in Munich and safe travels home.

MIS Gala Weekend Success - A huge 'Thank you' to our MIS Alumni
The whole School community is celebrating the success of our ‘Gala Weekend’ 1-3 June 2012. Kicking off on Friday evening with our ‘Surf & Turf Party’ at Kesselhaus, Munich, over 220 parents, staff, alumni and friends joined together for a champagne reception, a lobster and steak dinner and dancing well into the night. Around 35 Alumni joined us from all over the world and everyone commented how much they had enjoyed the evening.
On Saturday, the school grounds looked fantastic and rapidly fillied with visitors – it was, of course, our annual Frühlingsfest, superbly organised by the PTO. The sun shone all day and students and parents as well as alumni and visitors enjoyed the many activities and games on campus. There was a real party atmosphere, as teachers were ‘dunked’, baskets were won and students performed with aplomb at the talent show. It was a very special reunion event for our Alumni, as we had our own 'Welcome' base where we did, literally, welcome over 60 alumni visitors, many with who were back on campus for the first time since leaving and came along with their family. Over a glass of prosecco and a slice of cake, the memories came flooding back and, as we had all the Yearbooks on display, everyone was delighted to see those photos of yesteryear! The class of '97 had their 15 year reunion, this being well supported. Thanks to everyone who came to see us at Frühlingsfest, we know also that many alumni were taking part in the football tournament on the soccer field - but due to their sporting commitments were unable to come and join us for cake and prosecco!
Also taking place on Saturday was another reunion in New York, and again a great day was enjoyed by all. A further party in Munich on Saturday evening and a drink at 'The Brückenwirt' in Percha following Frühlingsfest ensured that MIS alumni were most certainly celebrating in style.
The weekend closed with a superb graduation ceremony - as alumni, I am sure you will join me in wishing our Class of 2012 the very best as they embark on their university courses and career paths.
We would like to pass on our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the weekend, particularly those who organised reunions or activities. Your contribution ensured the success of a memorable few days and confirmed that the MIS Alumni is firmly re-established!

The MIS Alumni organization is entering an exciting new phase as we move into Spring 2012. As the new Director of Communications and Development, I am delighted to introduce myself and I look forward to welcoming alumni onto campus in the weeks, months and years to come.
Over the next few months, we will keep you informed about our plans to reach out to new members and grow our alumni network across the world, hold special events and reunions across the continents – and, of course, to keep you up to date with all that is going on at MIS. We warmly invite you to visit us and see how we have developed over the years.
To do this successfully, we need to be able to keep in touch with you – so I would ask you to please register on our website so that we have your email address and details. One advantage of registering is that it provides access to our Alumni Directory, which allows you to contact other members of the alumni. If you are already registered, I would ask you to make sure that your details are up to date by going into the ‘Update your details’ section on the Alumni webpage.
We also hope that you will help us to make our alumni website lively and engaging. We need your help in building this page into an active exchange of news from our thousands of former students and colleagues. Please inform us of any news, events and stories which you are happy to share with our alumni and school community. Even better if you can include a good quality photo!
One event which we hope will kickstart the new look Alumni is already in the planning - a truly celebratory weekend over ‘Frühlingsfest’ weekend which will start with a gala dinner in Munich on Friday 1st June, and continue with the traditional PTO Frühlingsfest on Saturday 2nd June, where we will have a special welcome area for Alumni. Full details of both these events will be available shortly, but, in the meantime, please ‘Save the Date’ in your calendar.
It is my great pleasure to be charged with the development of the MIS Alumni. I look forward to meeting you or hearing from you soon.
