Six for Sustainability: Grade 6 Service as Action in full swing

The MIS Grade 6 'Six for Sustainability,' Service as Action project is in full swing. Students have been engaged in a variety of projects this week, focused on sustainability.  Some students built a bug hotel from recycled materials, others organized a book and toy swap, while others up-cycled t-shirts into bracelets. One team even formed a cafeteria committee to see how MIS can even further reduce plastic waste while another group hand-painted sustainable shopping bags.
Grade 6 students received inspiration for this project from Sailors for Sustainability, a two-man global sustainability project which Grade 6 students have interacted with over the past few months.  The 'Sailors' are on a global journey to research, document and share sustainable solutions.  They have directly helped educate MIS students on sustainability through educational, inspirational and entertaining videos and challenges created especially for our Grade 6 community here at MIS.
