Back in Expedition Action

After a long break we are back in expedition action with the Bronze and Silver Award groups!

Grade 10 Bronze

The Grade 10 Bronze groups completed a day hike through the local countryside - reviewing and developing their map-reading and navigation skills. With heavy downpours the whole day it was a true test of motivation, resilience and teamwork to keep the spirits up and successfully complete the expedition experience. With the Nature Skills Day last weekend in drier weather they then enjoyed a day of learning survival skills for the great outdoors - including making shelters, fire and discovering more about the local wildlife.

Grade 11 Silver

On the same weekend of rainy weather the Grade 11 Silver Award group set out to complete their practice expedition. They planned three different routes from school – exploring the local history- hiking to Villa Rustica, Hohenschäftlarn  and Berg. The gloomy weather did not dampen the spirits of this motivated group and they made it to the end full of energy and excitement to be ready for their final expedition at the end of September.

All participants should be commended too for completing their Skills, Service and Physical sections during the challenging time of Covid-19 where they had to adapt their activities and effectively manage their own projects with greater independence.

The Award programme kicks off again at Bronze (Grade 9), Silver (Grade 10) and Gold (Grade 11 &12) levels at the end of September.
