Meet Rainer Feurer - Board Candidate

Dear Fellow MIS Parents,

I am writing to you today to formally introduce myself as a candidate for the MIS Board of Directors. As a parent with two children currently enrolled at MIS—one in 7th grade and one in 12th grade—I have seen firsthand how this school’s commitment to academic excellence and international-mindedness shapes our children’s lives. My family and I have lived in the Starnberg area for nearly twenty years, giving me a deep appreciation for both our local roots and the diverse, international character of our community.

Why Your Vote Matters

The Board of Directors plays a critical role in ensuring that MIS remains a leading international institution. By participating in this election, you are directly influencing the governance and long-term strategic direction of the environment where our children learn and grow. I encourage each of you to cast your vote and take an active role in our school’s future.

How I Will Add Value to the Board 

I am eager to contribute my professional expertise to help MIS navigate an increasingly complex global education landscape. My background is rooted in strategic management and corporate governance:

• Strategic Expertise: I hold a Ph.D. in Strategic Management and have spent my career defining clear strategic directions and supporting sustainable growth during periods of change.
• Global Leadership: In my current role as Senior Vice President of Corporate Investments at BMW Group, I am responsible for investments in 25 joint ventures worldwide.
• Extensive Board Experience: I currently serve on several international boards, including BMW Brilliance in China, Solid Power (NASDAQ listed) in the USA, and HERE Technologies in the Netherlands. This experience has provided me with a deep understanding of oversight and organizational development across diverse regulatory environments.

My primary motivation is to ensure MIS continues to prepare our children to succeed in an ever-faster-changing world. I believe in a collaborative leadership style and a values-based approach to decision-making. It would be an honor to give back to the school that has meant so much to my family by offering my time and strategic perspective to ensure its continued excellence for future generations.
