Munich International School welcomes applications from all parents who support the School's mission and values.
Following the submission of all documents and the completion or any relevant testing, applicants are evaluated for acceptance and for grade level placement with a view toward their successfully gaining promotion from grade to grade, eventually leading to the awarding of the International Baccalaureate Diploma and/or the MIS High School Diploma.
The granting or refusal of admission is the responsibility of the Head of School in collaboration with the Principal in charge of that specific grade level.
In recognition of our mission as an international school, it is possible that, as class sizes approach the maximum, remaining places may be reserved for expatriate international students.

How to Apply
Interested parents and/or guardians are warmly invited to submit to the Admissions Office a completed MIS application form and relevant supporting documentation:

By signing the application form, the parent(s) and/or guardian(s) certify that, at the time of application/admission, all information pertinent to a) the testing and admission of a student to MIS, and b) the parent(s)’/guardian(s)’ financial circumstances, as required by legal provisions, have been disclosed.
Failure to provide accurate translations of academic documents, or to declare accurately and fully any assessments or evaluations made for educational support (e.g. special education or gifted programmes, individual educational plans, child guidance clinics, private tutoring, speech therapy, psychological assessment, etc.) and/or a student’s psychological/medical background may affect the School’s ability to offer the best possible education for the student, and may result in the annulment of the application or the School’s acceptance offer, or the student may be required to withdraw from MIS.
The selection of students is based upon demonstrated academic proficiency and appropriate behaviour, as well as attitude to school and study habits. Admission also depends upon the availability of suitable places.
Applicants may be admitted throughout the year based on the School’s judgement regarding the suitability of the educational programme for the prospective student and space availability.
Once all application documents have been received and any other relevant steps completed, the School will normally advise parents of the outcome within two weeks.
The admissions process involves these six steps:
Complete and submit all application documentation
The first step in the admissions process is the submission of a completed application form and other relevant documentation to MIS by the parent(s)/guardian(s).
Placement testing may be arranged depending on submitted documents, grade level and language proficiency of the student(s).
Once all elements of the application have been provided or completed, it will be reviewed by the appropriate School Principal. Admission may be granted, declined or the School may place the student on a waiting list. In all cases, the parent(s)/guardian(s) will be notified in writing.
If admission is granted, parents/guardians will be notified via an acceptance letter. The School Contract for the pertinent school year will be enclosed with this letter. This contract must be signed by all respective parent(s)/guardian(s) and returned to the School.
Payment of Entrance and Registration Fees
Payment of the initial Entrance and Registration Fees is due once the School Contract has been finalized and before entrance. Invoices will be addressed to individuals or groups as identified in the School Contract or Confirmation of Payment Form and issued shortly thereafter.
Before the student begins at MIS, parents will receive further information such as information about transportation, lunch application forms, supply lists and other information relevant to the specific grade level of the student. Depending on grade level and language proficiency, additional meetings may also be arranged. All Senior School students will take a math placement test prior to the start of the school year. All Senior School students for whom is not their Mother Tongue, will take an English language placement test prior to the start of the school year.
Parents and/or guardians are invited to submit an application form together with any relevant forms and documentation.
The School will acknowledge this application in writing and quickly advise if there are any further steps or additional information or documentation required e.g. an interview and/or testing may need to be arranged depending upon the age, Grade level, and language proficiency of the student.
After reviewing the application, the School will either grant the student admission, offer the student a place on a waiting list, or advise that it is not possible to offer the student a place. Sometimes it may not be possible to offer the student a place owing to the availability of places in the relevant Grade level, or the School may not believe that it has the resources available to assist the student to be successful.
Where there are places available and the School believes that it can support a student to be successful, preference will be given to international families, siblings of current students and ‘returning’ students i.e. students who have previously attended MIS.
In all cases, the parent(s)/guardian(s) will be advised in writing about the outcome of the application process as quickly as possible. If admission is granted, the School will enclose a school contract with a letter of acceptance. This contract must be signed and returned to the School within approximately two weeks in order for the student’s place to be confirmed.
Please note that most verbal and written communication with parent(s)/guardian(s) is in English. As needed, parent(s)/guardian(s) will be required, at their own expense, to provide for English translation for interviews, parent-teacher conferences, documents etc.
The granting or denial of admission is the responsibility of the Head of School in collaboration with the School Principals. All school decisions are final.
Any attempt to influence a decision or gain advantage by personal approaches by parents of applicants to Board members, faculty members or testing and evaluating staff, are strongly discouraged and may result in an application being declined.
A non-refundable Application Fee of €265 per child is due and payable at the time of application.
