MIS achieves full re-accreditation with Council of International Schools (CIS) and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
Munich International School was honoured to be a pilot school for the new accreditation model offered by the Council of International Schools (CIS). Accreditation Pathway 2 empowers well-established international schools to engage in a process of future-oriented strategic improvement and to receive validation from a team of specially trained visiting educators. MIS embarked on the new Pathway 2 protocol in school year 2023/24. Groups of teachers, administrators, students, and parents researched, assessed, planned, and executed aspirational school improvement initiatives in five groups:
-
Student feedback on their learning
-
Consistency of excellent pedagogy
-
Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
-
School-wide progression of learning for computing and structured thinking
-
Review of the purpose, scope, and delivery of language instruction
In Autumn 2023, a team of five external visitors spent a week at MIS, reviewed evidence, observed lessons, and spoke with students, teachers, and parents. Following their appraisal of the school's engagement with our five improvement initiatives, MIS was awarded full accreditation with no qualifications, the highest of the four possible accreditation outcomes.
We wish to thank all of the students, teachers, parents, and school leaders who participated in the accreditation process. Special recognition goes to the teacher leaders who led each of the five initiatives:
-
Student feedback: Martin Delveaux and Leike Burghout
-
Consistency of excellent pedagogy: Tonianne Lederer, Holly Uttley, Allison Gabel
-
Universal Design for Learning: Kristina Eckert and Catherine Shave
-
School-wide progression of learning for computing and structure thinking: Sean Sweeney and Hans Schmidt
-
Review of language learning: Tanja Connemann and Christian Böttcher
-
Overall accreditation coordination: Oliver Hartwright and Leigh Miller
