The May 2026 International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) results are an affirmation of a deep-seated culture of rigorous academic excellence at MIS. There are 101,000 MYP students worldwide who submitted personal projects, a requirement of all MYP students in Grade 10. However, only 359 IB World Schools across 82 countries take on the additional rigour of the MYP eAssessment, which includes ePortfolios of coursework and on-screen examinations. The world average this year was 36.4 points out of 56 possible points.
Our cohort of 113 candidates achieved a stellar average of 42 points and a 97.1% pass rate, performance levels that are 5.6 out of the 7 possible points above the global average. Not only is this cohort’s overall average impressive; they have outperformed the world average in 19 out of our 23 assessed subjects, with an average subject grade of 5.22 (7 is the maximum grade in every subject). Forty-one MIS students earned the prestigious Bilingual Certificate, and 12 students achieved the elite status of scoring 50 points or higher.
Not only is this cohort’s overall average impressive; they have outperformed the world average in 19 out of our 23 assessed subjects, and often by an impressive margin. A prime example of excellence is our Extended Mathematics average score: 6.10 compared with a global average of 4.69.
The academic weight of these results is rooted in the MYP eAssessment model, a sophisticated framework that provides an internationally benchmarked standard of excellence. Moving far beyond traditional rote memorization or simple algorithmic testing, the eAssessment uses on-screen examinations and digital ePortfolios to evaluate a student's ability to analyze, evaluate, and solve complex problems in authentic contexts. This modern approach ensures that our students are not just recalling information but are developing the high-level conceptual understanding and investigative skills necessary for success in the 21st century.
Several new initiatives supported our 2026 cohort’s success, including a dedicated ePortfolio workday, increased access to exam laptops to build familiarity and confidence with the school's dedicated assessment platform, a full mock examination week, and an exam celebration day to recognize students' efforts and reduce anxiety. Alongside these student-focused initiatives, departments engaged in more intentional collaboration and detailed analysis of assessment data, ensuring that teaching, learning, and preparation strategies were closely aligned to the demands of MYP eAssessment. We also partnered with parents to celebrate and support our G10 students as they prepared for their final exams. Together, these efforts contributed to one of the strongest MYP performances in recent years.
Ultimately, these MYP results serve as an important foundational bridge to the final two years of the IB Diploma Programme (DP). Research indicates that achievement during the MYP is a strong predictor of later DP success, particularly in critical thinking and analytical reasoning. These assessments allow students to clearly identify their individual areas of strength and improvement needs before they enter their final years of Senior School. Furthermore, our DP teachers utilize each student's results to determine how to best support them moving forward, ensuring that every MIS student is prepared for the rigours of the IB Diploma Programme and beyond.
