Dear MIS Community,
My name is Alexander Roehrs, and I am running for a position on the MIS Board of Directors. As a father of three sons (in grades 8, 7, and 2), I am deeply invested in the long-term success and excellence of our community.
I am writing to introduce myself and, more importantly, to encourage every parent to participate in the upcoming elections. Our school thrives when its community is engaged; by casting your vote, you ensure that the strategic direction of MIS reflects our collective values and aspirations for our children’s future.
Why I am Seeking Your Support
With over 20 years of investment experience and a career spent in high-level leadership, I believe I can offer the Board the analytical rigor and strategic foresight necessary to help MIS navigate an increasingly complex world. Currently, I serve as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Public Markets and a Board Member for MEAG Munich ERGO Asset Management, where I am responsible for approximately €160 billion in assets.
My professional background has equipped me with a unique set of tools that I aim to bring to our school board:
- Strategic Leadership: Having served as President of MEAG New York, I have extensive experience leading organizations through transformations, managing diverse global teams, and setting long-term objectives.
- Financial Expertise: My qualifications as a CFA Charterholder and my PhD in Banking and Finance provide me with the technical expertise to ensure the school remains on a sound financial footing.
- A Global Perspective: Having lived nearly half my life in the United States while being a German citizen, I consider myself both German and American at heart. This dual perspective allows me to bridge different mentalities and work styles, which is essential in our diverse international school environment.
My Ethos on Education
I believe that excellence is not a destination; it is a commitment. My goal as a Board member is to help MIS provide a pathway for every student to thrive across what I call the "Three A's": Academics, Athletics, and Arts.
In a world where technology is rapidly transforming how we live, our children must learn more than just facts; they must develop critical thinking, resilience, and a love for learning. Excelling in academics is thereby a given for me. In addition, whether it is through the discipline and teamwork learned in competitive sports or the creativity and confidence nurtured through the arts, I believe a holistic education prepares our children to not just master information, but to think independently, adapt confidently and present themselves and their thoughts coherently.
I am a "people person" and a team builder who believes in original solution-finding and clear communication. I would be honored to use my professional experience to serve this community and ensure that MIS continues to evolve and lead.
