At MIS, we empower, challenge, and inspire students to be Bold Dreamers. But what else does it take to help students realise their Bold Dreams? It takes real-world connections — authentic experiences that bridge the gap between classroom learning and the wider world.
Integrating real-world connections into our curriculum is a vital component of meaningful education. When students can relate academic content to genuine, real-life contexts, they not only deepen their understanding of the material but also recognise its practical relevance. This sense of purpose fosters intrinsic motivation, leading to higher levels of engagement, curiosity, and achievement. Furthermore, real-world learning cultivates essential competencies such as problem solving, collaboration, communication, adaptability, and resilience skills required for success in an ever evolving global society.
At MIS, we are fortunate to belong to an international community that values collaboration, curiosity, and global-mindedness. We actively engage this community to build strong relationships and create enriching opportunities for our students, while fostering a genuine sense of belonging. Through mentorship, project-based learning, and internships, our extensive network supports students in discovering their unique pathways and transforming aspirations into action.
This year, one of the key priorities for our Advancement Team is to take these initiatives to the next level. For the first time, we are connecting our Grade 10–12 students with our outstanding alumni network, providing additional guidance as they consider university options, explore future careers, or seek meaningful internship opportunities. As in the past we are delighted to welcome alumni back for Pathways Day, where they will share their personal experiences, insights, career journeys and offering students authentic perspectives on what life after MIS can look like.
In addition, we are developing a new Real-World Connection Repository, a dynamic resource that enables faculty to connect with industry experts, invite professionals into classrooms or arrange company visits. These opportunities make learning more tangible, relevant, and inspiring for students across all grade levels.
