The overall goal of the Board is to hold the School in trust in order to preserve its viability for the future. The Board anticipates the future needs of the school and plans for them by formulating MIS' Strategic Plan. Our School culture fosters innovative, forward-thinking, where we actively seek to anticipate and respond to the world's emerging needs and prepare learners to respond with confidence and insight.

MIS seeks to offer students opportunities to engage in learning that is aligned with the likely trajectory of their lives and of the world in which they will live, work, lead, and thrive.

MIS seeks to engage in practices that contribute to and promote environmental sustainability. MIS seeks to educate its students and families to become good stewards of our shared local, regional, and global environments.

Watch Live
The candidates will present themselves at the Association meeting on May 8th at 19:00, the meeting will be streamed and available to watch on this page. Elections will begin on April 24 and close at midnight on May 19th, 2025. The electronic election is run by an independent outside company and the process and results are monitored by our auditor. Association members will be informed of election results by early May.

MIS Board of Directors
Legal Status
The MIS Verein or, Parent Association, is the financial and legal body responsible for the operation of the School and is organized under the name the Munich International School e.V. The Association is a charitable institution and is registered in the Register of Associations at the local district court in Starnberg. The location of the Association is 82319 Starnberg.
Each parent/guardian of any child/children attending the School becomes a member of the Association upon the completion of the registration process for enrolment at the Munich International School. Members are entitled to cast one (1) vote only, in any election or required voting process.
Members may be elected to the Board of Directors in accordance with Article VI of the Articles of Association.
Governance
According to the Articles of the Association, the Board of Directors is authorized to govern the school.
The Board of Directors consists of nine Association Members and the Head of School as a non-voting member. The Board can also can also appoint up to 5 additional members to the Board.
The governing responsibilities of the Board of Directors are the determination of top-level policy with a view to secure the integrity of the School’s Mission; oversight of school finances and the appointment, support and evaluation of the Head of School. The Board also anticipates the future needs of the school and plans for them by formulating MIS' Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day operation, curriculum and administrative management of the School are outside the scope of the Board’s mandate and are, therefore, delegated to the Head of School.
Munich International School’s leadership team – known as the School Leadership Team (SLT) – manages the current and future needs of the School.
The Board anticipates the future needs of the school and plans for them by formulating MIS' Strategic Plan.
