Learning With Purpose
At MIS, we believe that making education relevant greatly supports students' decisions about higher education and career choices that best suit their skills and aspirations. Great effort is made to bring real-world higher-ed & work conditions to our campus so that when students arrive at the next level, they are prepared to thrive.
Welcome to the Senior School
When you enter our doors, you feel the history: the first Senior School students helped to shovel the ground beneath the hallways that our students walk today. Today our students experience their own opportunities to contribute to our Wildcat legacy, growing not only academically but as learners, leaders and members of dynamic and caring international community.
As an MIS teacher and an MIS parent, with children in Junior, Middle and Senior School, I’m excited by the meaningful challenge that is possible in the culture of care we are working together to create: where students are supported, valued, and confident enough to take intellectual risks. When students feel they belong, they are able to grow not only academically, but also as learners, leaders, and members of our community.

Students as Contributors
Over more than twenty years in international education and the International Baccalaureate, my work has focused on creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments that support both academic growth and personal development. At MIS, I’m grateful to work alongside an exceptional team of experienced teachers to empower students to think critically, take initiative, and see themselves as contributors to the world around them.
Students Beyond School
Our approach to leadership centers on building strong teams and systems that support learning for all students. By working collaboratively with teachers, students, and families, we can create a Senior School environment where curiosity, challenge, and care guide the learning experience.
The Senior School years are a transformative time in students’ lives. It is a privilege to support them as they discover their strengths, develop their voice, and begin to consider the impact they want to have beyond school.

IB MYP Certificate
Personalized Learning
The IB MYP certificate and the IB MYP bilingual certificate are available to students in Grade 10 who complete the IB’s broad and balanced course of study for middle level learners. Students sit for eight eAssessments, submit ePortfolios, and meet school requirements for participation in service as action. Their portfolio work and personal projects allow learners to develop expertise in specific areas of interest. The freedom and agency to learn more about what they love leads to intrinsic motivation, passion, and drive.
IB Diploma Programme
Ready to Thrive
MIS is one of the first International Baccalaureate-authorized schools in the world, awarded our first authorization in 1980. According to our 2021 reaccreditation evaluation report, MIS meets all of the standards for excellence in international education and exceeds 93% of the standards. Our Senior School teachers and leaders are some of the pioneers of the IB Diploma Programme, making our educators more than qualified to guide MIS students through the Programme and find success. University Guidance
Strategic Planning & Support
The Guidance office supports students with their post-MIS plans for all university destinations worldwide, as well as those who decide to consider a gap year, apprenticeship, or military service. Support continues for MIS graduates for a full year after graduation. Group sessions to address future plans and university destinations begin in Grade 9, and individual sessions begin in 10th grade during the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program course selection process; continuing and becoming more detailed and personalized in Grades 11 and 12.
Co-curriculars
Incredible Opportunities
In addition to the myriad of student-led Clubs, organizations, and options provided by the Student Life Programme, Senior School students have many additional program offerings to satisfy their interests such as business@school, an educational initiative from Boston Consulting Group catering to students interested in business and entrepreneurship. Film students can participate in the 1-day film-making challenge, Clash of the Titans, hosted by the American School of Paris. During the summer, Senior School students travel as far as Tanzania to support our long-term partnerships with schools, clinics, and philanthropic organizations. The list goes on and on . . .
