50 Years Heinrich Harrer Cup!

 

Over the years, this terrific event has brought together numerous athletes, coaches, friends and families to enjoy the challenge of ski competition and the conviviality of the Austrian Alps.

 

What a wonderful tradition!

09:00 - Pick up racing bib at finish area of Gschwandtkopf

 

09:30 – Alumni Giant Slalom - 1st Run, Gschwandtkopf

12:00 Alumni Giant Slalom - 2nd Run, Gschwandtkopf

 

15:00 – Awards Ceremony, Sportalm

 

15:30 - Aprés Ski, Sportalm Bar Outside

 

18:30 – Reception & Speeches, Sportalm

HHC Alumni Ski Race

 

1) Register for the alumni ski race online.

 

2) Pick up your bib at 9 am at the finish line area on Saturday, 7 March.

 

3) The race will begin promptly at 9:30 am.  Second run will begin at 12:00 pm.

 

4) Participants in older age groups will start first.

Aprés Ski, Dinner & DJ

Join us at the Sportalm outside bar for a lively Après Ski gathering after the races, starting at approximately 3:30pm.

 

Guests who have registered and paid for dinner will receive a wristband at entry from 18:30. Your wristband color will match your chosen menu.

Dinner Menu

Drinks and tips are not included.

 

Dinner menu includes grilled chicken or schnitzel with french fries or potato salad, or vegetarians can choose between Käsespätzle or Lentil-Dal.

Dessert is Kaiserschmarrn with apple sauce.

Founders

The Heinrich Harrer cup ski races began in 1975, founded by MIS students, Wolfgang Vollath ('75) and Martin Rose ('75), together with their teacher Dan Glover and patron  Heinrich Harrer.

 

This special tradition has now brought our incredible international school community together for 50 years!
Heinrich Harrer

 

The Heinrich Harrer Cup is an annual international school ski race named in honor of mountaineer and explorer Heinrich Harrer.

 

Known for his achievements as a world champion skier, Eiger north wall climber, and friend to the Dalai Lama, Harrer’s legacy includes the best-selling book “Seven Years in Tibet” and a lifetime of global exploration.

This year, the proceeds from our live auction will go towards MIS Scholarships.
